"Throughout three decades of practicing medicine, I have been privileged to experience on a daily basis the remarkable qualities of my patients. From my perspective each patient is a work of art.
The brain is the supreme human organ and how well it functions determines the course of one’s life. This is why the Emory Treatment Method gives primacy to brain function. Our medical protocol collects, sorts, and integrates key information that is related to individual neurobiology. This approach increases the likelihood that treatment selection for each patient is physically compatible and effective." Dr. Hamlin Emory
The Emory Treatment Method [ETM] is a fact driven way to improve a person’s brain function when it causes a medical illness, psychiatric diagnosis, mental or emotional condition or an addictive disorder. The goal is to learn if a brain factor is triggering a patient’s suffering.
ETM step #1 is to collect key data from each patient’s medical history, including specific data that may not be thought significant in current medical, psychiatric or psychological practice.
ETM step #2 integrates these data with any physical findings, cognitive testing results and abnormal lab values. An essential lab test is to extract each patient’s brain waves [EEG or electroencephalogram, measure them and compare them to an age-matched average [Quantitative EEG or QEEG].
ETM step #3 matches each new patient’s QEEG profile with treatment that our clinical EEG research has found effective in patients with a similar QEEG profile. Treatment can include diet, exercise, naturopathic agents, non-prescription medications and prescription medications. This unique approach to assessment and treatment decreases the incidence of adverse effects and increases the probability that treatment will be compatible and effective.
